Another Fantastic Poetry Festival
The 2019 Ledbury Poetry Festival once again celebrated two weeks of wide ranging poetry and entertainment including many events organised through the Ledbury Fringe.
John Goodwin were delighted once again to have been involved sponsoring the last event of the programme featuring Margaret Atwood. Best known recently for The Handmaid’s Tale Margaret herself is a Canadian poet, novelist, literary critic, essayist, environmental activist, teacher and inventor. She seems to have thoroughly enjoyed her week in Ledbury during which time she gave two performances for the festival as well as an appearance at John Masefield High School. She found time for a most enjoyable afternoon tea with a small group of representatives from John Goodwin at which the current Poet Laureate, Simon Armitage, was also present. She went on to present her Desert Island poems and impressed greatly with her depth and range of knowledge mixed delightfully with her mischievous sense of humour. She had also been greatly impressed by the Sealed Knot display which took place earlier in the day.
